First Day of Astronomical Autumn

Coole Park in Autumn
Coole Park in Autumn, County Galway.

Welcome to the first day of astronomical Autumn, as today the Sun is equidistant from the North Pole and the Equator, here in the Northern Hemisphere.

I captured this image in County Galway’s Coole Park, once the estate of Lady Augusta Gregory. She frequently hosted Ireland’s literary greats of the late 19th Century including W.B. Yeats, George Bernard Shaw, John Millington Synge, and Sean Casey.

They roamed these woods finding inspiration in nature, and they clearly found it!

Coole Park is one of the subjects of my book, “In the Footsteps of W. B. Yeats at Coole Park and Ballylee” (Mystical Moods of Ireland, Vol. IV).
