Windswept Coast of Ireland’s Dunmanus Bay
Dunmanus Bay, a picturesque body of water between the rocky coasts of County Cork’s Mizen Peninsula and the Sheep’s Head Peninsula, has played significant role in the commercial development of Southwest Ireland.

Beginning between Sheep’s Head and Three Castle Head, Dunmanus Bay is 7 kilometers wide at its mouth and extends 25 kilometers to Four Mile Water near the village of Durrus.
The O’Mahony Clan built several castles along the bay, including the historic Dunmanus and Dunlough castles, from where they supervised commercial trading operations with the European continent during Medieval times.
